Obituary Archive of the Rhode Island Jewish Historical Association;;PALEY, JEWEL ROST passed away peacefully on March 13, three weeks shy of her 96th birthday. She was predeceased by her husband of forty-nine years, Lawrence Paley, in 1991. She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law Joan and Jimmy Abramson, Linda and Fred Franklin, and Sandy and Bob Lichtenstein, and her beloved grandchildren Wendy (Bob) Charland, Nancy Abramson, Susan Abramson, Brian (Regan) Franklin, Alison Franklin, David Lichtenstein (Rebecca Silver), and Katy Lichtenstein. She was a special GG to Avigail and Daniel Yerushalmi, Zalman Wuensch, Jack and Ryan Charland, Sammi Franklin, and Jesse and Gillian Lichtenstein. Jewel was born in Montreal, Canada in 1918. She graduated from Cornell University at the age of. twenty in 1938, then spent most of her married life in Providence, where Larry was president of Eddy & Fisher, Inc. After Larry retired in the early seventies, they moved to Florida. Jewel returned o Providence in 2007 to become a resident of Laurelmead. Jewel never stopped learning and kept up with current events, politics, and international affai, reading the .New York Times every day. She was an enthusiastic sport{fan, following and rooting for her Red Sox and Celtics. She played tenn_is and golf into her e,ighties, loved the theatre and symphony, and was an avid bridge player an her life. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 16th, at Temple Beth El, followed by burial a Sharon Memorial Park. There will be a reception at Laurelmead from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Shiva will be observed at Laurelmead on Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Termple Beth El, the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, or the Laurelmead Employee Education Fund.\"
